The Writing Center is a place where writers working in any discipline and at any level of competence meet with trained peer tutors in informal, one-on-one tutoring sessions that focus on writing. In half-hour sessions, tutors may help you brainstorm ideas, construct or improve a central assertion or thesis, incorporate sources appropriately, and/or show you how to identify grammar errors and teach you strategies for correcting those errors.

Appointments

To schedule a tutoring appointment, call or stop by the Writing Center. Appointments are best, but walk-ins are welcome if the schedule permits.

Policies

  • Tutors will not proofread, edit, or revise papers directly.

  • The Writing Center does not accept "dropped off" papers.

  • The Writing Center does not accept emailed papers.

  • Your appointment will be given away if you are more than five minutes late.

Classroom Visits

Faculty may request a Classroom Visit from the Writing Center. A tutor will visit your class and give a ten-minute talk about Writing Center services. Classroom visits encourage students to seek help with their writing. If you are a faculty member and you wish to request a class visit, please call or email us.

Workshops

The Writing Center offers workshops for students and faculty on a variety of topics. If you wish to suggest or request a workshop topic for students or faculty, please call or email us.
