8.1       Goal:

The university will provide for a more stable network environment.

                     

8.1.1       Action Plans:

 

a.     Install clustered servers for all network functions.

 

b.     Install sub-networks in technology-intense areas.

 

8.2       Goal:

The university will expand its administrative computing services--e.g., BANNER, PeopleSoft, etc.

                     

8.2.1       Action Plans:

 

a.     Replace all administrative computing servers.

 

8.3       Goal:

The university will provide a network infrastructure and operating system to support future computing functions.

 

8.3.1       Action Plans:

 

a.     Install gigabit Ethernet capability.

 

b.     Install Windows 2000 operating system.

 

c.      Conduct a feasibility study to address upgrading or eliminating the current dial-in system.

 

8.4       Goal:

The university will maintain hardware availability and capability necessary for effective teaching.

                     

8.4.1       Action Plans:

 

a.     Equip all classrooms with basic electronic presentation equipment.

 

b.     Equip classroom buildings with a minimum of two fully equipped, state-of-the-art electronic classrooms.

 

c.      Establish additional instructional computing labs.

                       

 

8.5        Goal:

The university will provide an increased level of support for the use of instructional technology in the delivery of instruction.

                     

8.5.1       Action Plans:

 

a.     Establish an instructional technology unit within the Department of Information Technology.

 

b.     Broaden support and establish policies to address the development, review, and maintenance of official campus unit home pages.

 

c.      Draft an official statement outlining the computer/information literacy skill set faculty expect students entering the university to possess.

 

d.     Draft an official statement outlining the computer/information literacy skill set faculty expect students graduating from the university to possess.

                

8.6       Goal:

The university will provide expanded training opportunities for using instructional technology.

 

8.6.1     Action Plans:

 

a.     Seek funding to support faculty/staff technology-based training beyond that which is locally offered.

 

b.     Increase the capability and accessibility of technology used in continuing education/community outreach programs.
