STRATEGIC DIRECTION #7 - North Georgia College & State University will enhance its ability to employ and retain qualified faculty and staff.

 

7.1       Goal:

The university will encourage staff to participate in professional development activities.

 

7.1.1     Action Plans:

 

a.     Increase funding 50 percent for staff development by FY2001. 

 

b.     Evaluate training offered to staff and determine needs in all areas. 

 

c.      Provide increased in-house and off-campus staff development opportunities in relevant professional and interest areas. 

           

7.2       Goal:

The university will complete the equity and competitiveness analysis of staff salaries.

                       

7.2.1     Action Plans:

 

a.     Evaluate job descriptions for all North Georgia College & State University staff.

 

b.     Create job hierarchies and salary levels/ranges for all staff positions.

 

7.3       Goal:

The university will provide formal orientation for new faculty and staff.

 

7.3.1     Action Plans:

 

a.     Develop and implement a formal orientation program for staff.

 

b.     Continue the mentoring program for all new faculty and develop and implement a mentoring program for new staff.

 

7.4       Goal:

The university will increase faculty and staff salaries to reach University System of Georgia medians for state universities.

 

7.4.1     Action Plans:

 

a.     Participate in the System-wide Faculty and Staff Equity Study.

 

b.     Target key areas for increases in current faculty and staff salaries.
