3.1         Goal:

The university will educate its constituency about diversity issues.

 

3.1.1         Action Plans:

 

a.     Conduct diversity awareness workshops for faculty and students and sanction activities and events on campus that promote diversity awareness.

 

b.     Identify and support regional and national programs that celebrate the diversity of world culture.

 

c.      Modify the campus physical environment to reflect the university’s increasing diversity.

 

d.     Encourage departments to highlight the contributions of a diverse population to their disciplines through website links, promotional material, educational resources, etc.

 

e.     Explore new courses for and/or add current courses to Areas B and/or E of the core curriculum that directly address diversity.

 

3.2         Goal:

The university will ensure that current policies and procedures reflect an awareness of and an adherence to diversity responsibilities.

 

3.2.1         Action Plans:

 

a.     Conduct a thorough review of the policies and procedures of North Georgia College & State University to determine an appropriate awareness of and adherence to diversity responsibilities and to make recommendations for needed changes.

 

3.3         Goal: 

The university will promote diversity consciousness and responsibility not only on the campus but also in the broader community.

 

3.3.1         Action Plans:

 

a.     Publicize all cultural events open to the public through media that reach the institution's primary service area.

 

b.     Establish mutual relationships that allow for shared cultural enrichment with public schools in the institution's primary service area.
