North Georgia College & State University held its annual National Leadership Conference on March 30-31, 2006. The conference theme was “Adaptive Leadership: The Future of Military Education”. Conference presenters included the Secretary of the Army, the Chief of Staff for the United States Army, as well as General Honor’e. Conference attendees included representatives from the Senior Military Colleges, Senior Army leaders, Military Service Academies, business leaders, academic leaders, and local legislators.
The goals for the conference were to explore recent advances in military education and their implications for leadership in all sectors of our nation. To accomplish these goals, break-out sessions were conducted after each keynote presentation to discuss a series of specific questions. The professionalism, commitment, and expertise of the conference participants facilitated a response that can assist the Army in developing a new leadership development paradigm. Educators can utilize the conference proceedings to improve the training and instruction provided to future leaders, and better prepare them for realistic challenges.
