Kenneth Sizemore and John Mincey were involved in a large landscaping
effort around the Alumni Center during June and July. Mincey, on the
backhoe, used the machinery to uproot bushes that were more than 20 years
old. Physical Plant Director Julio Canseco said the project is part of a
maintenance cycle that the grounds keepers are responsible for as part of
improving the cosmetics and functional use of campus facilities. Removing
old landscaping that is overgrown and covering windows has taken place at
the Alumni Center and Nix Center. Crape myrtles were moved from the Dining
Hall to Sunset Drive in anticipation for the planned parking around the new
library center.
