Health Insurance
International students are required to maintain adequate health insurance coverage while in the U.S. For this reason, all F-1 students at NGCSU will be billed for the health insurance coverage provided through Pearce & Pearce Insurance, the coverage approved by the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia.
The premium for August 1 through December 31 is billed with the Fall semester fees; the premium for January 1 through July 31 is billed with Spring semester fees. A brochure detailing coverage is available from the ISSO or the Business Office.
Students are encouraged to begin by going to Student Health Services on campus. Many issues can be treated there, and most are covered by NGCSU's Student Health Fee.
A student who is covered under a relative's group health insurance plan may be eligible for a waiver of the Pearce & Pearce health insurance coverage. To request a waiver, a student must apply within 10 days of the beginning of the semester at http://www.studentinsurance.com . The waiver is not automatically granted. Any correspondence received from the insurance provider should be read carefully and saved. The waiver process must be completed each semester. A waiver does not carry over from one semester to the next.
If a waiver is granted, the Business Office will be notified and will remove the charge from the student's bill.
