What should you know about student health services?
Student Health Services is a clinic that is designed to accommodate the basic health needs of the students of NGCSU and teach prevention and self-help to students.
All currently enrolled student taking 1 hour of classes or more, on the NGCSU main campus, who pays the Student Health Fee are eligible for care at Student Health Services. Student Health Fees collected each semester cover services rendered in the health clinic with the exception of specific immunizations (see immunization web page) and laboratory test and medications provided in the Women’s & Men’s Health Clinic. Graduate Students, Student Teachers, and Student Interns should contact the Business Office to ensure that their Health Fee has been paid. All students must have paid the Student Health Fee in order to take advantage of the services offered by Student Health Services.
Student Health Services is a nurse operated medical facility. A nurse will evaluate your symptoms and deliver over-the-counter treatment. A full-time Nurse Practitioner and a Physician Assistant is available for prescriptions. A college physician is available by appointment only. The clinic stocks many over-the-counter medications, first-aid supplies, and prescription medications. Referrals to specialists or other private physicians are made when necessary. Appointments are available and walk-ins are welcome, but all situations the nurse deems as an emergency will be taken first.
