Advisement
All students have an academic advisor. You are strongly urged to meet with your advisor prior to
registering for courses for the term. If you choose not to, you risk delaying graduation.
For new students, your advisor is listed at the top of your acceptance letter. A currently
enrolled student can login to Banner to determine his or her advisor's name by viewing
Student Information in the Student Records area.

Audit a Course
Regularly enrolled NGCSU students may register for courses as auditors. No academic or
degree credit shall be awarded to auditors. Fees assessed for audited courses are the same as
fees of courses taken for credit. If an audit student withdraws from a course prior to the end
of the term, a grade of W will be assigned as the grade rather than a V. An audit student who
is dropped for excessive absences will be assigned a grade of W.
If you wish to audit a course, you must report to the Registrar's Office and advise registrar
personnel, at the time of registration, that you wish to audit the course.

Withdrawals
Class Withdrawal
Students may withdraw from courses with a grade of W (or WF as per
the instructor) prior to the mid-point of the semester. However, withdrawals processed
after mid-term will be assigned a grade of WF (Withdrew Failing). Discontinuance of class
attendance without officially withdrawing from a course is sufficient cause for receiving
a failing grade in the course. No refunds are issued for a reduction in hours after the
drop/add period. Deadlines for the submission of class withdrawal forms are listed in the
Academic Calendar, as well as the
Registration & Reporting Guide for the semester.
Class withdrawal forms are available in the Registrar's Office or from the following site.

Institution Withdrawal
Students who wish to withdraw from the institution must process an institution withdrawal to clear accounts and sign out
from the institution. Students must also process a class withdrawal for each course in which they are registered.
Refunds are issued ONLY for complete withdrawal from the University. The Institutional Withdrawal Request form is
available online in
Banner from the Student menu.

Transient Permission
Current NGCSU undergraduate students may request to complete certain courses at another institution as a transient
student. A transient permission form must be submitted to the Registrar's office prior to the term in which the
student would like take these courses. Permission is not granted to students on academic suspension. Two year
college courses may not transfer to NGCSU as upper division courses.
*NOTE* Beginning Fall Semester 2008, students who attended NGCSU at least one term in the prior
year (or three semesters) and who plan to return to NGCSU may be advised and register for classes as a continuing
student without reapplying to NGCSU or reactivating their files. Students should refer to the
Registration & Reporting Guide for upcoming advisement and registration
dates.
However, if a student has been away from NGCSU for more
than three terms, he/she must contact his/her Admissions
office regarding admissions requirements, deadlines and fees.
The Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs must approve Transient Permission
Requests for the following students:
- students who wish to repeat a course in which a grade has already been earned at NGCSU
- students taking transient coursework after Senior status has been achieved
- students who are on academic probation
The Transient Permission Request form is available online within
Banner from the Student menu.
The Transfer Equivalencies site below can assist students with the selection
of courses based on how these courses will transfer back to NGCSU. The listing
or exclusion of certain institutions and/or courses does not reflect the transferability
of course credit. If students or advisors have questions, please contact the
Registrars Office.
Course Transfer Equivalencies
After the student submits the form, the Registrar's office will send a letter of good
standing to the other institution. The student must apply to that institution as a transient
student. At the close of the transient term, students must request an official transcript of
their coursework at the other institution be sent to NGCSU.
Graduate students who are interested in seeking transient permission should contact
the Office of Graduate
Admissions for more information.

Plans of Study
A plan of study lists a student's degree requirements and allows the advisor and
student to track progress towards the student's graduation from NGCSU. The plan of study is the
first indicator to the Registrar's office of a student's plans to graduate.
Each student must submit a plan of study to the Registrar's office before (s)he earns the
specified number of hours listed below. The student, faculty advisor, head of the department
and the minor advisor (if applicable) must sign the plan of study before it is filed with the
Registrar.
- ASN students – 40 hours
- Bachelor's degree students – 90 hours
- MAT students - 20 hours
- MBA student - 20 hours
- MEd students – 20 hours
- MPA students – 25 hours
- MS Counseling students – 35 hours
- MS Family Nurse Practitioner students – 35 hours
- MS Nursing Education - 25 hours
- Educational Specialist - 20 hours
Any student who does not have a plan of study on file in the Registrar's office at this time
will have a hold placed on his/her Banner record.
After the Registrar's office reviews the plan of study, a copy will be returned to the department and to
the student that includes an office signature.

Final Grades on the Web
Students may view/print final grades from Banner. Grades will be posted to the web as soon
as they are processed at the end of the term. This generally takes place within 5 working days
of the last day of exams. To access final grades from Banner, follow these
instructions.
However, students may request a hard copy of their grades, by completing a request for
grade mailer and submitting this form to the Registrar's office. This form is available in the
