Name Change
A student who wishes to change his or her name on NGCSU records must submit a completed Name Change form to the Registrar’s Office that has been notarized. Certified copies of any legal documentation (marriage certificate, court order, birth certificate, etc.) must also be presented as proof of the name change.

Name change forms are available in the Registrar’s Office or from the following site using Adobe Acrobat Reader.

Major/Minor Change Information

Currently enrolled students may change their major on-line within Banner. Login to the system and access Student Services & Financial Aid. Click on Major/Minor Update. Select and submit your requested change.

This request form only sends an email to the department of the requested major. The department will then contact the Registrar's office affirming the change and assigning a new advisor. Updates are not immediate. An email will be sent to your NGCSU email account to confirm the change.

If a major change is not approved, the department of that major should contact the student. Questions regarding this process should be sent to the new academic department.

Students who would like to major in Nursing or Education must contact that department directly to learn about the entrance requirements for these programs of study.

Enrollment/Degree Verification

Enrollment Verification
Beginning October 2004, the Registrar’s office teamed with the National Student Clearinghouse and named them our authorized certifying agent for enrollment verifications. This self-service allows NGCSU students access to their enrollment information via the National Student Clearinghouse web site. Students can login into our Banner system and request enrollment certifications without contacting the Registrar’s office.

Current-term enrollment cannot be verified until after the drop/add period. Verification of enrollment cannot be provided for future terms. To request an enrollment verification, login to Banner and follow these links:

  • Student and Financial Aid
  • Clearinghouse Student Self-Service
  • Link to NSC

You can 'obtain an enrollment certificate' for the current term or all terms of attendance at NGCSU.

Degree Verification
In October 2004, the Registrar's office authorized the National Student Clearinghouse to be our certifying agent. Organizations or individuals who would like to verify a degree must contact the Clearinghouse.

Transfer Credit

Students who want to transfer to NGCSU as well as NGCSU students who complete work as a transient student at another institution will have each transcript from all prior colleges evaluated in the Registrar's Office. This evaluation is done to determine if a course is equivalent to an NGCSU course.

The Transfer Equivalencies site below can assist students to determine how credit has been transferred to NGCSU in the past for other students. The site is not exhaustive but includes work brought into NGCSU by prior students. It is a guide only. The listing or exclusion of certain institutions and/or courses does not reflect the transferability of course credit. If students or advisors have questions, please contact the Registrar’s Office.

In State Residency

Currently enrolled students who are classified by NGCSU as out-of-state students (for tuition purposes) but wish to qualify as in-state students must file an Application for In-state Tuition with the Registrar's Office. The burden of proof that the student qualifies as an in-state student under the regulations of the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia rests with the student.

Applications are available in the Registrar's office or from the following site using Adobe Acrobat Reader.
