Academic Standing
Academic Standing is calculated at the end of the semester based on the student's overall grade point average (GPA)
and the number of hours (GPA hours) earned. Both undergraduate and graduate students have certain academic performance
guidelines that must be maintained. Undergraduates should check the
Undergraduate Bulletin. Graduate student
guidelines are listed in the Academic Performance section of the
Graduate Bulletin.
Honors
President's List
Undergraduate students who have a GPA of 4.0 while carrying 12 or more hours are placed on the President's
List.
Dean's List
Undergraduate students who have a GPA of 3.5 while carrying 12 or more hours with no grade below
"B" are placed on the Dean's List.
Restricted Registration
Undergraduate students who are not in good academic standing (on probation or academic warning) are required to
seek an alternate or second PIN number (ALTPin) from his/her academic advisor prior to registration. Online registration
is permitted but the ALTPin must be given before access to the Registration area in Banner is permitted. This ALTPin
requirement will remain for the student until he or she is back in good academic standing.
Additionally, students with less than a 2.0 overall GPA, will not be permitted to enroll in more than 17 hours in a
term.
Academic Dismissal
Students who do not successfully meet academic guidelines as listed in their Bulletin will be dismissed
for a period of time as described. For undergraduates, please refer to the Undergraduate Bulletin. Graduate students
should refer to the Graduate
Bulletin for more information.
