Eligibility
Montgomery GI Bill - Active Duty (MGIB)
The MGIB program provides up to 36 months of education benefits. This benefit may be used for degree and certificate programs, flight training, apprenticeship/on-the-job training and correspondence courses. Remedial, deficiency, and refresher courses may be approved under certain circumstances. Generally, benefits are payable for 10 years following your release from active duty. This program is also commonly known as Chapter 30.
Montgomery GI Bill - Selected Reserve (MGIB-SR)
The MGIB-SR program may be available to you if you are a member of the Selected Reserve. The Selected Reserve includes the Army Reserve, Navy Reserve, Air Force Reserve, Marine Corps Reserve and Coast Guard Reserve, and the Army National Guard and the Air National Guard. This benefit may be used for degree and certificate programs, flight training, apprenticeship/on-the-job training and correspondence courses. Remedial, deficiency, and refresher courses may be approved under certain circumstances. This program is also commonly known as Chapter 1606.
Veterans Educational Assistance Program (VEAP)
VEAP is available if you first entered active duty between January 1, 1977 and June 30, 1985 and you elected to make contributions from your military pay to participate in this education benefit program. Your contributions are matched on a $2 for $1 basis by the Government. This benefit may be used for degree and certificate programs, flight training, apprenticeship/on-the-job training and correspondence courses. Remedial, deficiency, and refresher courses may be approved under certain circumstances. This program is also commonly known as Chapter 32.
Survivors' and Dependents' Educational Assistance Program (DEA)
DEA provides education and training opportunities to eligible dependents of veterans who are permanently and totally disabled due to a service-related condition, or who died while on active duty or as a result of a service related condition. The program offers up to 45 months of education benefits. These benefits may be used for degree and certificate programs, apprenticeship, and on-the-job training. If you are a spouse, you may take a correspondence course. Remedial, deficiency, and refresher courses may be approved under certain circumstances. This program is also commonly known as Chapter 35.
Vocational Rehabilitation (VocRehab)
You are entitled to vocational rehabilitation services and benefits if you meet all of the following conditions:
1. You have a compensable disability as a result of active service during or after World War II;
2. You have been or will be discharged, released, or retired from service under other than dishonorable conditions;
3. The Veterans Administration determines that you need rehabilitation services because you have an employment handicap, and
4. Your period of eligibility has not expired.
Even if you do not meet these criteria above, you may still be eligible under certain circumstances to receive services to assist you to find and adjust to employment. This program is also commonly known as Chapter 31.
Work-Study Program
This program is available to any student receiving VA education benefits who is attending school three-quarter time or more. An individual working under this program may work at the school veterans' office, VA Regional Office, VA Medical Facilities, or at approved State employment offices. Work-study students are paid at either the state or Federal minimum wage, which ever is greater. If you have questions on this program contact the VA via their toll-free number 1-888-442-4551.
Tutorial Assistance Program
Tutorial assistance is available if you are receiving VA educational assistance at the half-time or more rate and have a deficiency in a subject making tutoring necessary. If you have questions on this program please contact the VA via their toll-free number 1-888-442-4551.

Provide our office with the original or certified copy of your Notice of Basic Eligibility (NOBE). You may obtain your NOBE from your reserve unit.

Transfer Students

Direct Deposit
EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer) processing, also known as "Direct Deposit," is now available to recipients of the Montgomery GI Bill - Selected Reserve (Chapter 1606) education benefit.
We invite you to "sign up" for Direct Deposit (also known as Electronic Funds Transfer) of your VA education benefit payments. If you sign up for Direct Deposit, we'll send your education benefit payments directly to your account. Direct Deposit is the safest and fastest way to receive your VA education payments. You no longer have to worry about your check being delayed by the mail or being lost or stolen.
How Do You Sign Up for Direct Deposit?
You can sign up for Direct Deposit by phone or by mail. To sign up by phone, call 1-877-838-2778. This is a toll-free call. To sign up by mail, sign this letter and mail it to:

Whether you sign up by phone or by mail, you'll need to give us some information about the account where you want your payments to go.
What Information Should You Give Us?
You should give us the following information about the account you want your benefits to go to.

Your bank or financial institution's nine digit routing number:

For checking accounts, the routing number is the first nine digits on the bottom of the check

For savings accounts, you'll probably need to ask your financial institution for their routing number

The account number

The type of account: checking account or savings account

If using your checking account, all of this information is on your checks. So, the easiest thing for you to do is send us a "void" check when you sign up. You can void a check by writing "VOID" across the front of a blank check.
