Admission of applicants home-schooled in non-accredited programs and applicants from non-accredited high schools is based on the following:

•  The applicant having an SAT-I Critical Reading and Mathematics combined test score (or equivalent ACT Composite) equal to or above the average score of the previous year's entering freshman class (the average SAT-I combined score of Critical Reading and Mathematics for North Georgia freshmen enrolled in Fall of 2007 was 1080 (ACT Composite equivalent of 24), with a minimum of 480 SAT-I Critical Reading and 440 Math (20 ACT English, 18 Math).

•  Completion of the Admissions Portfolio with all supporting documentation required.

•  Freshman applicants who are transferring from a college must also meet our transfer admission criteria.

Home-schooled applicants with a diploma from a regionally accredited home study program will be given the same consideration for admission as students with a diploma from a public school.

Home study programs accredited or approved by the following are acceptable:

Accrediting Commission for Independent Study
Association of Christian Schools International
Georgia (or any other state’s) Accrediting Commission
Georgia Association of Christian Schools
Georgia Private School Accrediting Commission
Southern Association of Colleges and Schools
Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools
New England Association of Schools and Colleges
North Central Association of Colleges and Schools
Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities
Western Association of Schools and Colleges

In some instances, the applicant may be requested to come to Dahlonega for testing and/or for an interview by an Admissions Officer. If required, the Admissions Officer will notify the applicant of the time and place of the interview. The university reserves the right to refuse applicants when it appears that the number of students already accepted will fill the University to its capacity.

As soon as your file is complete, it is evaluated by an admissions officer and you will be notified of the decision.  Admission to North Georgia as an undergraduate student does not automatically admit the individual to teacher education or nursing programs.
