Master of Science Nursing Family Nurse Practitioner (MS)

The Master of Science Nursing Family Nurse Practitioner major, is a 46 semester hour program of study that prepares experienced registered nurses to qualify for advanced practice authorized in the state of Georgia and to take national certification exams as a family nurse practitioner.  The program is a cohort program which starts on a full-time basis summer semesters only.  Application deadline for summer acceptance is February 28 of each year.  Irregular admission status (beginning classes w/o an entrance test score) is permissible for this program. However, because of the highly-competitive nature of the application process, it is recommended an entrance test score (either MAT or GRE) be submitted by the application deadline.

Applicants must

  • complete all graduate admission requirements and prerequisite requirements

  • submit a departmental application

  • hold a B.S. in Nursing from an accredited School of Nursing

  • have one year post licensure experience

  • have a current Georgia RN license

Individuals seeking a post-MS certificate are also eligible to attend this program and should apply to Graduate Admissions as a post-graduate (non-degree seeking) student.
