What are Podcasts?

Podcasts are video and/or audio files that, unlike streaming, download completely to a user's computer via an aggregator like iTunes for viewing at any time.

Advantages:

• The user can have lower bandwidth and still retain exceptional quality.
• The file can be transferred to an iPod, CD, etc.

Disadvantages:

• Since the file is downloaded to the user's computer, the copyright laws are stricter as you lose control of the distribution of the audio or video file.
• The file must completely download before viewing. If you have a large file, you may wish to suggest to user's with low bandwidth that they set their iTunes to download the file at night while they are sleeping so it's there for them in the morning.
