Basic Instructions for Your iPod |
If you wish to put a podcast on your iPod, you need to download it first to your computer via iTunes, then sync your iPod with your computer. Below are some basic instructions on recharging the battery and synching your iPod.
| Battery |
| |
You are given two options to recharge the battery in your iPod:
- Connect the iPod to a USB port on your computer. Note for Mac users: The USB port on the keyboard does not provide enough power, so you have to use a USB port on your computer.
- Use an iPod USB Power Adapter, available separately.

| SYNCHING Your iPOD to iTunes: |
AUTO SYNC Problem |
| |
The most convenient feature iTunes provides is the AutoSync preference. When it is enabled iTunes will automatically add audio and video files each time you plug your iPod into your computer. (Note: This only works one way. You cannot copy audio and video files from your iPod back to your computer.) This feature works perfectly when all music/videos are saved in the designated iTunes folder (default set-up is "MyDocuments \MyMusic\ iTunes\ iTunesMusic") and you consistently use the same computer.
Warning: If you plug your iPod into another computer which has no or different music or videos in iTunes, all your music and/or videos WILL BE ERASED. |
Change Auto to Manual Sync Settings |
| |
So if you use another computer other than the one you normally synchronize your iPod with, you need to sync it manually with the following steps:
- Make sure that the computer has iTunes.
- iTunes will then ask you if you want to change the link for your iPod to the new computer (see warning above). See Image
- Choose "NO" and change the sync settings to manual.
- Plug your iPod into the computer and press the iPod button. An option window will pop up and turn on the manual update. See Image

| |
Be sure your iPod is set up to manually add files.
- Select files in your library which you want to add, by dragging them to your iPod icon. Note: sometimes you have to wait few seconds with the mouse pointer over the iPod icon in order to drop them. See Image
