Live Classroom
NGCSU has incorporated the Live Classroom tools into WebCT VISTA. Live Classroom tools allow you to connect to your students through synchronous text chat, voice, and video.
You can:
- Application Share - Share applications like Excel, Word, etc.
- Share web pages
- Upload PowerPoints on the fly
- eBoard - Enable eBoard for your students (Get them involved!)
- Create rooms for group work
- Add survey or poll questions
- Archive the session for student viewing later
| If you have attended the on-campus Wimba Live Classroom sessions and wish to "practice" what you have learned, go to the following URL and log in using the user ID and password you were assigned during the session: http://ngcsulive.wimba.com. |
Please note - once you have run the wizard on a particular computer, you do not need to run it again. The wizard simply checks to see if your computer has all the components needed to use Wimba.
Voice Tools
In addition to Live Classroom, NGCSU has also incorporated the Wimba Voice Tools into WebCT VISTA.
Here are the tools available to you:
- Voice Board - Create threaded discussions (i.e., Pose a question to your students and ask them to respond).
- Voice Presentation - Combine slides and web site visuals with voice over.
- Wimba Podcaster - Create audio podcasts that are immediately available.
- Voice Email - Record your message and send an email with the link to your message (i.e., Record a brief explanation of a question many of your students seem to have and email the link to them so they can listen).
- Voice Direct - Create a synchronous discussion (i.e., Set up online office hours in which students can ask questions, or give students space to have group online discussions for their project).
- Voice Recorder - Post an audio message to the board (i.e., Give an audio overview of learning objectives for a course or particular chapter).
