1.  The minutes of the January 2003 meeting were accepted.

2. Hil Harper presented a brief summary of the minutes of the BOR AAC meeting from 11/13.  A copy of the BOR AAC meeting's minutes can be found on the CJAG web site.

3. Brent Paterline gave the report of the internship committee.  He reported wide variances between internship policies between institutions within the USG.   He found that 14 programs offered internships and 5 of the programs required them.  The number of credit hours given for performing an internship varied from 3 to 12 semester hours.  The average number of hours of credit given was 8.77.   Discussion followed that highlighted the different policies and programs available in the USG.  The importance of sharing information was emphasized.  Dr. Paterline suggested looking at the NGCSU web site for information on internship requirements at his home institution:

The final recommendation of the committee was that, due to the uniqueness of each program, CJAG should not establish any set policies regarding internship requirements and that each program should feel free to establish requirements that best suit their individual needs and mission.  The recommendation was accepted unanimously.

4.  Hil Harper and Leo Downing presented copies of the proposed new CJAG Constitution and By-Laws to the members in attendance.  The documents were reviewed and revised.  The members approved the revised documents unanimously.  Copies of the approved documents are attached these minutes and are posted on the CJAG web site.

The members unanimously approved that CJAG be incorporated as a non-profit corporation though the Georgia Secretary of State's Office with the revised Constitution serving as the articles of Incorporation.  Hil Harper has agreed to do the work to make this happen in a timely manner and he is contributing the associated costs on behalf of CJAG.

The members also established annual dues at the rate of $10 per year for a full time member and $5 annually for student members.   Applications were distributed to members in attendance.  Initial members in the organization will receive a certificate proclaiming them to be "founding members" of CJAG.   Applications for CJAG will be placed in the CJAG web site as soon as the papers for incorporation have been filed.

The members also agreed that all presenters on CJAG panels must be members of CJAG.

5.  Elections were held to fill the new officer posts.  The results were as follows:

President:  Hil Harper (elected to the post 3-03) (hharper@valdosta.edu)

Vice President:  Leo Downing

Secretary/Treasurer:  Eugene Bouley

Director of Communications: Leo Downing

6.  The next meeting of CJAG will take place in conjunction with the GPSA meeting at the Mulberry Inn in Savannah, Georgia on November 11-13, 2004.  The deadline for proposals will be July 1, 2004.

The decision was made to provide six panels.  The CJAG panels will be chaired by

Leo Downing, Hil Harper, Gene Bouley, Dorinda Dowis, Brent Paterline and Stuart Batchelder.  Brent Paterline's panel will be for student presentations.  Address and contact information on each of the panel chairs will be posted on the CJAG web site:

http://www.ngcsu.edu/CJAG/cjag.htm

A suggestion was made that next year's program be organized around panel themes and that panels should have a better mix of institutional representation.  To accomplish these outcomes it was suggested that after the papers titles are submitted to the Director of Communications, Leo Downing, that he reorganize the panels accordingly.  The suggestion met with unanimous agreement.

7.  The meeting was adjourned at 10:47 AM and Hil Harper assumed the position as President of CJAG.
