| About FLO |
Facilitating Learning Online (FLO) was designed with faculty in mind . faculty who
are or may be facilitating online courses as well as faculty augmenting classroom teaching with online course
materials.
FLO provides a self-contained, facilitated, experiential learning environment that shares a spectrum of online learning concepts,
theories, and principles using interactive and collaborative experiences.
FLO focuses on theory, concepts, and practices for effective online facilitation.
FLO allows you to experience communicating in discussion areas and working in an online group project.
FLO is presented in WebCT Vista and models effective facilitation skills, however it is not intended to teach specific technical
skills related to WebCT Vista or any other software used to deliver online facilitated courses.

FLO Course Format |
You will need to commit about 4 to 6 hours per week for 8 weeks during the fall and spring
sessions (7 weeks for the summer session).
The course is taught in an online format, and involves readings from a variety of sources, brief online surveys and quizzes, assignments, and frequent
interaction with colleagues via the discussion tool.
You will learn from a seasoned online facilator and will experience various instructional and technological delivery
methods from the student perspective.

FLO Technical Requirements |
To effectively participate in the FLO Course you need to have:
- Mastery of basic computer skills and software applications
- Online skills including basic proficiency using web browsers,
website navigation, search engines, and e-mail communication
- Document management skills including file management, attaching files, uploading and
downloading files and understanding of various file formats
- Basic familiarity with WebCT Campus Edition or WebCT Vista course management system
- Access to a computer with Internet connection and e-mail
- Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
- Adobe Acrobat Reader
- Web Browser: A current recommended browser for WebCT Vista
