Frequently Asked Questions

The semester has not started yet but my internship supervisor wants me to begin right away. Can I begin the internship early?
Yes. The important thing is that you must complete all of the internship requirements by the last day of classes for the semester.

Do I have to post a journal entry every day?
I would recommend that, but it is not required. You must turn in journal reports for every day worked during your internship by the last day of classes for the semester.

What should these journal entries look like?
They don't have to be too long. A paragraph describing your day will do. I especially encourage comments on what you've learned and how it applies to your studies.

When I post my entries on WebCT, they show up in both my folder and the "All" folder. I thought these entries were supposed to be private. Can other interns read them?
Don't worry, they are private. I am the only one that can see all entries. The "All" folder merely accumulates all entries that you are authorized to see. The only folders available to everyone are the "Main", "Notes", and "Intern Forum" folders (so be careful what you post in them!).

My supervisor suggested a book for me to use, can I use it?
I hope so! The list of Approved Readings on this site is not exhaustive. If you come across another useful book, use it! HOWEVER—you must get my approval before using any book not listed on the Approved Readings page.
