Scholarships

There are several scholarships available to qualified individuals at NGCSU. Choose form the links provided below for more information:

-Army ROTC Scholarships

To help you finance your college years, Army ROTC awards scholarships available at NGCSU. Army ROTC scholarships pay tuition, required fees, a monthly stipend ($250 for freshmen, $300 for sophomores, $350 for juniors, and $400 for seniors) as well as $900 per year for books. They’re awarded on merit - like academic achievement, extracurricular activities, personal interviews, and physical fitness. If you are a non-scholarship student, you can still receive the stipend as a contracted cadet during your sophomore to senior years. If you are selected to receive a scholarship, you will have a commitment to the Army after completing the program. You can fulfill it by either serving part time in the Army National Guard, Army Reserve or full time in the Regular Army.

*For Georgia residents who are eligible for the HOPE Scholarship, the Army ROTC Scholarship can be applied to room and meals.

To apply for an ROTC Scholarship, students should access: www.goarmy.com/rotc/index.jsp.

All Army ROTC scholarship applications are processed through Army Cadet Command in Fort Monroe, Virginia.

-Georgia Military Scholarship (GMS)

The state of Georgia offers thirty-nine "Full Ride" scholarships per year to NGCSU.

The scholarship covers all costs of room, meals, tuition, and fees. It also provides a $375 a semester stipend for books and supplies.

In addition, those students participating will receive NATIONAL GUARD pay, GI Bill money, and ARMY ROTC contract pay (upon contracting at the beginning of the sophomore year), which equates to about an extra $1000 a month.

In order to be considered for the scholarship, students must be nominated by their local state legislators. Deadline for the applications is March 10. Also, students should apply for admission and be accepted to NGCSU. The Selection Committee meets in April and scholarships are announced in May.

Effective 15 August 2005, GMS Scholarship recipients are non-deployable! MG Poythress, Adjutant General for the State of Georgia, has signed a directive that prohibits the deployment of GMS recipients as long as they are enrolled and remain in good standing with NGCSU and the Georgia Army National Guard.

Scholarship Requirements:

1. Be a resident of Georgia.
2. Receive a nomination by a State Legislator.
3. Have a minimum SAT of 1010, or ACT of 22, and be HOPE Scholarship eligible.
4. Meet Army National Guard mental and physical standards.
5. Agree to serve as an enlisted member in the Georgia Army National Guard while a student at NGCSU.
6. Agree to accept a commission upon graduation from NGCSU and serve four years as a commissioned officer in the Georgia Army National Guard
