BATON ROUGE, La. (April 11, 2006) -- NGCSU students have won two national awards presented by Phi Kappa Phi for 2006.  Laura K. “Katie” Williamson, a biology student who will receive her bachelor of science degree on May 13, won one of the honor society’s 60 Fellowship Awards for 2006.  This award provides a student with a $5000 scholarship for her first year of graduate or professional study.  June Irene Koehler, a student in art marketing and piano performance, won one of the honor society’s 38 Study Abroad Grants for 2006.  This award provides a student with a $1000 scholarship to defray travel expenses.

The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi is the nation's oldest, largest, and most selective all-discipline honor society.  In recent years, the NGCSU Chapter has had a good record of success in its nominations of NGCSU students for these national awards.
