ACADEMIC CONFERENCE IS ANNOUNCED
Members of the Georgia Chapter are looking forward with anticipation to the eighth annual Georgia Public Administration Academic Conference, scheduled for Friday, March 3, on the campus of Albany State University.
Dr. Rita Henry-Brown, program chair, has announced the program for this year's conference.

Directions to Albany State University from Valdosta
Travel Interstate 75 North to the Albany/Tifton Exit. Turn left at the traffic signal at the end of the exit ramp on to U. S. Route 82. Continue on U. S. 82 until reaching Albany.
In Albany, U. S. 82 will become East Oglethorpe Blvd. Continue on East Oglethorpe Blvd approximately 8 miles to the intersection of Radium Springs Road and East Oglethorpe Blvd. Turn left. Albany State University’s campus begins at this point.
Directions to Albany State University from Atlanta
Travel Interstate 75 South to Exit 99. Turn right at the end of the exit and travel State Route 300 until reaching Albany. Once in Albany, travel through the first intersection after passing Miller Brewing Company. Merge into the right lane of traffic which veers to the right.
Continue on East Oglethorpe Blvd. approximately 5 miles to the intersection of Radium Springs Road and East Oglethorpe Blvd. Turn left. Albany State University’s campus begins at this point.
Directions to Albany State University from Columbus
Travel State Route 520 to Albany. In Albany, SR 520 becomes Dawson Road. Continue on Dawson Road until reaching the intersection of Dawson Road and Slappey Blvd. Turn right. Travel three intersections and turn left at the intersection of Oglethorpe Blvd and Slappey Blvd.
Continue on Oglethorpe Blvd. until reaching the intersection of Radium Springs Road. Turn right. Albany State University’s campus begins at this point.
Directions to Albany State University from Augusta
Option 1: Take Interstate 20 West to Atlanta. Follow instructions from Atlanta.
Option 2: Take Interstate 16 East to Milledgeville; continue until reaching Macon. Once in Macon, travel Interstate 75 south to Exit 99. Turn right at the end of the exit and travel State Route 300 until reaching Albany. Once in Albany, travel through the first intersection after passing Miller Brewing Company. Merge into the right lane of traffic which veers to the right.

PARKING: The ACAD building, which houses the auditorium, has parking for everyone. You will need to get a parking permit from Public Safety, located directly in front of the ACAD. The parking permits are free.

Both of the following hotels are located 4 miles from the campus of Albany State:
Sleep Inn Hotel is located at 1525 Dawson Road in Albany (31707). Call (229) 888-5595.
Quality Inn Merry Acres Hotel is located at 1500 Dawson Road in Albany (31707). Guests have access to a business center. Please note that this hotel does not have an elevator. Call (229) 435-7721.

ELECTED AT ANNUAL MEETING
The annual conference culminates in a dinner meeting at which members of the Georgia Chapter elect officers and council members for the following year. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. at Blackbeard's Seafood and Barbeque (see conference program, above). CHAPTER PRESIDENT CALLS MEETING FOR THURSDAY, MAY 11
Chapter President Helen R. Buckelew has called a meeting of the Georgia Chapter for Thursday, May 11, at 1 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Atlanta offices of the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, 40 Marietta Street (corner of Marietta and Forsyth), in the Montalvo Room on the 11th Floor.
Be smarta--take MARTA! The HUD building is near the N.W. corner of Five Points Station. Leave the Five Points station via the Forsyth exit and walk up (north) on Forsyth to Marietta Street. The building is on the corner. Or leave the station via the escalators that take you up to the plaza and walk to Marietta Street. Turn left at the McDonalds to the corner of Marietta and Forsyth.
