The Council of Honor Societies is the coordinating council for 21 honor societies at North Georgia College & State University.  It was founded on February 14, 1995, when the presidents of six honor-society chapters--Omicron Delta Kappa, Phi Alpha Theta, Pi Gamma Mu, Pi Sigma Alpha, Psi Chi, and the Rho Tau honors division--signed the original constitution of the council.  The Council of Honor Societies is a confederation whose sole purpose is to support the efforts of the officers of NGCSU's honor societies.

ARE YOU CONFUSED ABOUT ALL OF THE END-OF-YEAR BANQUETS AND CEREMONIES?  WELL, YOU'RE NOT ALONECLICK HERE FOR HELP!

At the Honor Societies' Initiation Banquet on April 15, 2008, NGCSU's honor societies donated $2000 to subsidize one of the processes that are necessary for activating Lumpkin County's new 2-1-1 telephone line.  For more information about this project, click here.

What services does the Council of Honor Societies provide to affiliated honor societies?

» The council coordinates the annual Honor Societies' Initiation Banquet on Honors Day in April.  (Some photographs of the 2000 banquet can be viewed at Pi Gamma Mu's banquet photo site.)

» The council coordinates the involvement of honor societies in the annual Honors Day Research Conference.  Most honor societies sponsor panels or roundtable discussions at the conference.

» The council offers the use of its checking account to those honor-society chapters that would like to deposit their funds in the council's account rather than maintain their own separate checking accounts.

» The council ensures that other constituents of the university can locate the honor societies and make various benefits available to the chapters.
