NGCSU Men finish seventh and Women finish ninth
at the Georgia Collegiate Championships this Saturday
Lawalin named second team All-Georgia with her 13th place finish

Macon, GA - Freshman Emmy Lawalin ran her best time of the season and was named second team All-Georgia, while Alan Schmitz once again carried the men’s team as North Georgia competed at the Georgia Collegiate Championships today hosted by Mercer University.

Lawalin led the Lady Saints to a ninth place finish with a time of 20:12.7 that placed her in 13th place overall. Hannah Dugger was right behind Lawalin in 27th place in a time of 20:50.6. Liz Dunn finished third on the team and 31st overall as she crossed the line in 20:55.4.

Clayton State's Allison Kreutzer won the women's event in a time of 18:05. The division II All-American was the top All-Georgia finisher. Berry took top honors at the race, followed by Clayton in second, and Mercer University grabbed third place.

In the Men’s race Alan Schmitz finished 23rd overall with a time of 28:20.0, followed by Josh Kerzie in 33rd place at 28:46.0 and David Beall finished third on the team right on the heels of Kerzie in 34th place at 28:49.0.

The men’s 8k race was won by Abraham Kiprotich from Chattahoochee Tech, followed by Alex Robin of Emory in second place. Berry College took top team honors, followed by Emory and Georgia College.

“I thought both the men’s and women’s teams raced extremely well this weekend,” head coach Amanda Harris said. “We saw lots of personal records on today’s course. It was fast with rolling hills which are conditions we are used to training on.”

North Georgia will return to action at the Erskine Invitational in Due West South Carolina on October 12 as they will face another elite field of schools. The women will run first at 4:00 pm, followed by the men at 4:45 pm.
