PAIR OF FRESHMAN LEAD SAINTS TO 10TH PLACE
FINISHES AT SEWANEE INVITATIONAL

Sewanee, Tenn. – Freshman Josh Kerzie and Christina Scott led the men's and women's cross country teams as North Georgia College & State University finished 10th in both the men's 8k and women's 5k races at the University of the South Invitational.

Kerzie finished 62nd overall in the race with a time of 29:48 in his first collegiate race. Freshman Dustin LaBarge also performed well in his first race as he finished 75th in a time of 30:13. Rounding out the top five for the Saints was junior Bryan Harris in a time of 30:32, junior Robert Murray in a time of 30:57, and sophomore David Beall in a time of 31:33. Overall, the Saints finished 10th out of 15 teams with an average time of 30:37.

Centre College won the men's team race with an average time of 27:05. Josphat Waweru of Jacksonville State University won individual race in a time of 26:17.

In the women's race, Scott led North Georgia with a 33rd place finish in a time of 21:11. Sophomore Kayce Christianson took 43rd overall in a time of 21:33. Another freshman in her first race, Hannah Dugger took 48th place in a time of 21:57. Senior Anna Roller finished 87th overall in a time of 23:32 followed by freshman Loren Blake who finished 89th overall with a time of 23:35. The women finished in 10th place out of 19 teams with an average time of 22:21.

Emory University won the women's team race with an average time of 19:42. Emry McKay of the University of North Alabama won the race in a time of 18:18.

Both the men's and women's team will prepare this week for the Mercer Invitational at the Mercer University Atlanta Campus. The men's race begins at 9:00 a.m. followed by the women's race at 9:25 a.m.
