#11 LADY SPARTANS SWEEP LADY SAINTS 9-0

Dahlonega, Ga. - The 11th ranked USC Upstate women’s tennis team rolled through the doubles and singles competition to pick up a 9-0 victory over North Georgia College & State University in tennis action on Saturday afternoon.

The Lady Spartans took an early 3-0 lead after doubles play. USCU's Anna Novo and Maria Herrera blanked Catie Murphy and Katherine Harrison 8-0 at No. 1 doubles, while Daniela Lovera and Susana Hernandez defeated Jenny Bridges and Amey Kearns 8-1 at No. 2. The Lady Spartans picked up the third point at No. 3 via forfeit.

For singles competition, the Lady Spartans sweep the remaining matches, winning the No. 6 point via forfeit. Novo defeated Murphy 6-0; 6-0 at No. 1, while Lovera defeated Harrison 6-0; 6-0 at No. 2. Hernandez defeated Bridges 6-0; 6-0 at No. 3, while Diana Martinez defeated Kearns 6-0; 6-0 in the No. 4 spot. Herrera defeated Lee 6-0; 6-1 at No. 5 to finish the afternoon.

The Lady Saints will play again on Tuesday, March 21 against Piedmont College at 3:00 p.m. in Dahlonega. The Lady Spartans will compete tomorrow, March 12 against Presbyterian College at home.
