LADY SAINTS OVERPOWER LADY LIONS 5-4
Dahlonega, Ga. – The North Georgia College & State University women’s tennis team defeated Piedmont College 5-4 in their second contest of the season. The Lady Saints improved their record to 5-4 overall.

The Lady Saints (5-4) took a 2-1 lead over the Lady Lions (2-4) after the doubles competition. Katherine Harrison and Catie Murphy defeated Jennifer Hewett and Mandy Brittain 8-6 at No. 1, while Jenny Bridges and Crystal Lee defeated Lindsey Hughes and Mindy Pfeiffer 8-1 at the No. 2 spot. PC’s Jennifer Mulligan and Marlene Morris defeated Amey Kearns and Andrea Rodas 8-2 in the No. 3 match.
In singles play, North Georgia and Piedmont split the six matches. Hughes defeated Harrison at No. 1 after three sets, while Murphy defeated Brittain 6-2, 6-7 (5-7), 6-2 at No. 2. Bridges defeated Hewett at No. 3 and Kearns defeated Mulligan at No. 4 to give the Lady Saints their victory. Pfeiffer defeated Lee at No. 5, while Morris defeated Rodas at No. 6 in two close sets to conclude the match.

The Lady Saints next compete Thursday, March 23, on the road against conference opponent Augusta State University at 2 p.m. The Lady Lions will also play Thursday as they host Fisk University at 3 p.m.
