LADY BOBCATS DEFEAT LADY SAINTS 9-0
Milledgeville, Ga. – The Georgia College & State University tennis team won 9-0 over North Georgia College & State University Tuesday in a Peach Belt Conference doubleheader on March 7. North Georgia’s record now stands at 4-3 overall and 0-2 in the conference.
The Lady Bobcats took an early 3-0 lead after doubles. GC&SU’s Anna Shchupak and Anna Davidsson defeated Katherine Harrison and Catie Murphy 8-1 at No. 1 doubles, while Sofia Intriago and Gabby Acuna blanked Amey Kearns and Jenny Bridges 8-0 at No. 2. The Bobcats picked up the third point at No. 3 via forfeit.
In singles play, GC&SU won at No. 6 due to forfeit and then won the remaining five matches in straight sets. Shchupak defeated Harrison 6-1; 6-0 at No. 1, while Davidsson defeated Murphy 6-1; 6-1 at No. 2. Intriago cruised past Bridges 6-0; 6-0 in the No. 3 spot, while Acuna defeated Kearns 6-1; 7-5 at No. 4. Jessica McKnight won 6-0; 6-1 at No. 5 over Andrea Rodas.
The Lady Saints will host conference opponent USC Upstate this Saturday, March 11. The match begins at 2:00 p.m.
