NORTH GEORGIA ANNOUNCES SIGNING CLASS
Adams calls this class the most highly-touted in school history
Dahlonega, GA - North Georgia College & State University head women's soccer coach announced his signing class for the upcoming season this afternoon.
“We couldn’t be any happier with our 2007 commitments," said head women's soccer coach Chris Adams. "This is the best and deepest class that we have signed in my four years here at North Georgia. With the loss of eight seniors, we have many voids that need to be filled. We are striving to sign twelve players and already have nine players who meet the requirements of being great people of character; very good students; and extremely talented athletes.”
The class includes:
Lacey “Katelyn” Crane, Midfield, 5’5”, Winder, GA, Winder-Barrow High School, Atlanta Fire United
As a 4-year starter of the Winder-Barrow High School Women’s Varsity Soccer Team, Katelyn Crane was selected All-Region, 8-AAAA, from 2004-2006. During these 3 years, she tallied 40 goals and 16 assists from her forward position. Crane was also selected All-Area Northeast Georgia from 2004-2006. She played club soccer for Atlanta Fire United under Tim McCarty where she excelled in the attacking third.
Lauren Langford, Midfield, 5’5”, Winder, GA, Winder-Barrow High School,
Atlanta Fire United
As a result of her stellar performance on the Winder-Barrow Women’s Varsity Soccer Team, Lauren Langford was selected a member of the 2004, 2005, and 2006 8-AAAA All-Region teams. She was also recognized as All-Northeast Georgia First Team in 2005. In her three seasons of competition at Winder-Barrow, Lauren scored 37 goals and totaled 17 assists for the Bulldogs. Langford played club soccer for Nathan Borror at Atlanta Fire United. She was a critical part of the team which finished 1st place at Germantown and 2nd place in the Orange Classic in Miami, FL.
Laura Nunnery, Midfield, 5’7”, Richmond Hill, GA, Richmond Hill High School, Coastal Georgia Soccer Association
Laura Nunnery transferred to Richmond Hill High School from Salem High School, where she scored 34 goals in 61 games. She received the awards Most Valuable Offense in 2005 and Most Valuable Midfield in 2006. Nunnery was also selected as part of the All-Area team in 2005 and 2006. Laura played club soccer for several years at Gwinnett Soccer Association where her team won several notable tournaments, but finished out her club career at Coastal Georgia Soccer Association. She played at CGSA under Coach Gary Wright where her team was the Coastal Georgia Classic Champions.
Casey Smith, Center Midfield, 5’4”, Stockbridge, GA, Union Grove High School, Gwinnett Soccer Association
Casey Smith was a crucial part of the Union Grove High School Varsity Women’s Soccer Team, where she was selected as a member of the Southern Crescent Team in 2004, All-County in 2006, All-Area in 2006, and the Henry County All-Star Team all 4 years of her high school career. She was awarded with the Wolverine “Going Above and Beyond” Award in 2005 and the Rookie of the Year award in 2004. She recorded 30 goals and 11 assists for the Wolverines and served as a team captain for 2 years. Smith played club soccer on the ’89 GSA Phoenix Red team where they were the 2005 and 2006 State Champions, as well as the R3PL East Champions.
Chevonne “Chevy” Vincent, Forward, 5’9”, Lawrenceville, GA, Collins Hill High School, Atlanta Fire United
Chevy Vincent attended Collins High Hill School where she placed in several state championships and broke several school records running track for the Eagles. Chevy placed third in the region in the 400 m and 300 m hurdles. She played club soccer for Atlanta Fire United under Coach Nathan Borror where her team won their division in 2005 and were champions of several tournaments such as Germantown 2006, and Silverbacks Classic 2005 and 2006.
Sara Kate Rogers, Forward, 5’2”, Gainesville, GA, Gainesville High School, Oneida FC
Sara Kate Rogers tallied 54 goals and 43 assists in her three seasons of high school competition. She played for North Hall High School from 2003-2005 and played for Gainesville High School from 2005-2007. Rogers was chosen as her team’s Offensive MVP in 2005 and 2006, Gatorade Player of the Year in 2004, selected to the All-Area Team in 2005 and 2006, and received the Golden Boot Award in 2006. Sara Kate played club soccer for coaches Henry Singleton and Greg Syfan at Lanier Soccer Association and Oneida FC.
Brittany Bauschka, Defender, 5’5”, Alpharetta, GA, Northview High School,
Atlanta Fire United
As a four year starter for Northview High School, Brittany Bauschka was selected to the 7AAAAA All-Region Team, and was voted MVP Defense in 2004 and 2006, and Overall MVP in 2005. She was also voted the 2006 Kleos Award winner, an award given on the basis of leadership, loyalty, strength of character and integrity. Bauschka was the Titan’s team captain in 2005 and 2006. She played club soccer for Atlanta Fire United under Coach Nathan Borror.
Jessica English, Goalkeeper, 5’5”, Snellville, GA, Brookwood High School,
Gwinnett Soccer Association
As a starter for Brookwood High School, Jessica English recorded 13 shut-outs, and allowed the least amount of goals in Gwinnett County in 2006. She was recognized on the Atlanta Journal Constitution’s and Gwinnett Daily Post’s All-County Teams. English played club soccer for GSA where her team was a three-time GYSA State Champion. Her club team was also R3PL East Champions in 2005 and 2006. Jessica has also been a member of the Georgia ODP team from 2002-2006. These accomplishments were highlighted by her being selected to Region III ODP camp in 2005.
Emily Davis, Defender/Forward, 5’5”, Lilburn, GA, Parkview High School,
Gwinnett Soccer Association
As an integral member for Parkview High School, Davis helped lead the Panthers to the 2005 AAAAA State Championship in Georgia’s largest classification. Davis will again be called upon in 2007 as she helps Parkview defend their # 3 ranking in the preseason. Emily played club soccer for Erik Crawford at the Gwinnett Soccer Association. She participated in Athena A, and was called upon to play multiple positions for her side. Davis is an also a standout in the classroom earning Scholar Athlete status from 2004-2006.
