OGLETHORPE TAKES DOWN NORTH GEORGIA 2-0 IN WOMEN'S SOCCER
Atlanta, Ga. - The Oglethorpe women's soccer team got themselves ready for conference play by defeating North Georgia College & State University 2-0 on Monday.
In their last game before starting their SCAC slate, the women's team got great individual goals from Akele Jeffers and Janine Sanders to snare a victory and build some needed momentum.
Jeffers scored the games first goal in the 60th minute by streaking past a defender and beating North Georgia's keeper with a one-on-one move. Later in the half, Sanders took a cross from Jeffers and stroked a beautiful shot off her left foot to build the lead to 2 - 0. The Petrels never looked back after Sanders goal.
After improving their overall record to 2 - 4 - 1, Oglethorpe begins conference play at Sewanee on Friday, October 7th at 1pm. The Lady Saints play again Wednesday afternoon at home in an exhibition match against Young Harris College at 5:00 p.m.
