HUGHES AND WEBB SIGN WITH LADY SAINTS SOCCER
Dahlonega, Ga. – Third year head women’s coach Chris Adams announced today the signing of Lauren Hughes and Kelsey Webb to play soccer for North Georgia College & State University.
Hughes, a 5-6 midfielder, will graduate from Brookwood High School in Lawrenceville, Ga. She played varsity soccer for coach Anita McLane and junior varsity for coach Sara Sargent. In addition to competing on the field, she is also a member of the National Art Honors Society and named a scholar athlete. She is currently undecided in her choice of major. Her mother, Jennifer, swam at Georgia Southern and her father played baseball at Western Kentucky University.
Coach Adams stated, “Lauren comes from a very reputable club, Gwinnett Soccer Association, and a great high school program, Brookwood High School, who is currently ranked second in the state of Georgia in class 5-AAAAA. Lauren's soccer background is outstanding and she will raise the competitiveness and professionalism of our program. I anticipate Lauren fighting for considerable playing time somewhere on the field.”
Webb, a 5-4 forward, will graduate from Harris County High School in Pine Mtn Valley, Ga. During her high school soccer career, she scored 107 goals and tallied 54 assists. She was named three-time MVP on her high school team, twice to the All-BiCity first team, and to the All-Region first team. Along with her athletics, Webb has been on the Honor Roll all four years, a member of the community service team, and received a State Silver Medal and National Silver Medal for community service.
Adams also added, “Kelsey comes from a rising club, Columbus Red Stars, and plays for Harris County High School who is heading to the state playoffs in class 2-AAA. Kelsey has a real passion for soccer and has a knack for scoring goals. She quietly goes about her job, but is always in the right place in the right time. I expect Kelsey to battle for one of the forward positions and believe that she will be a starter by the end of the season.”
