LADY SAINTS DEFEAT LOCK HAVEN FOR FIRST VICTORY
Four players in double figures for the Lady Saints

Orlando, FL –  The North Georgia College & State University Lady Saints placed four players in double figures en route to an 86-81 victory over Lock Haven (Pa.) University in the final game of the Disney Division II TipOff Classic.

After Lock Haven opened the second half on an 8-0 run (over the first 2:45) to trim the lead to 37-34, Megan Huffman and Brooke Baker caught fire from the outside. The duo hit three consecutive three-pointers to extend the lead to 46-38. Huffman ended the run with a three to extend the lead back to six at 40-34, before Baker connected on her three with 16:28 remaining to extend the lead to 43-34. Huffman would strike again, this time with 15:21 remaining to get the 46-38. The Lady Eagles would get no closer throughout the rest of the game.

The Lady Saints started the game on a 24-3 run over the first 8:17 of the game to outrun the Lady Hawks, including holding Lock Haven without a field goal for 7:08 to start the game. The run was highlighted by the play of Syretha Marble and Huffman, who combined for 14 of the team's first 24 points.

Lock Haven (0-3) answered the run by the Lady Saints during the middle of the first half, going on a 10-2 run to trim the lead to 31-19 with 6:19 remaining in the first half.

Following a timeout called by North Georgia (1-2) head coach Buffie Burson, the Lady Saints were able to stop the run by Lock Haven over the final six minutes of the half and trade baskets to take an 11-point lead, 37-26, into the locker room.

Throughout the first half, the Lady Saints seemed in control - shooting 34.9 (15-for-43) percent from the floor and 27.3 (3-for-11) percent from behind the three-point line. They were able to hold Lock Haven to 33.3 (9-for-27) percent from the floor and 30.0 (3-for-10) from behind the three-point line. The two teams were tied in rebounding with 25 each, with North Georgia grabbing 11 offensive rebounds.

For the game, the Lady Saints shot 40.3 (29-for-72) percent from the floor, while hitting on 45 (9-for-20) percent from behind the arc.

Marble, named to the All-Tournament Team, finished the game with 23 points and seven rebounds, while Kourtney Singleton added 22 points and six rebounds. Huffman finished with 16 points and Rachael Jolley came off the bench to add 15 points and 12 rebounds.

Lindsey Kitchens who finished the game with nine assists, tied the Disney Division II TipOff Classic tournament record with 20 for the entire tournament. She also finished one shy of tying the single-game record of 10 assists.
