BURSON STEPS DOWN AS ASSISTANT AD
Dahlonega, Ga. – North Georgia College & State University Athletic Director Randy Dunn announced today that head women's basketball coach Buffie Burson is stepping down as assistant athletic director.
“During Coach Burson's tenure, she has taken the Lady Saints basketball program to a level that is second to none in the NAIA,” said Dunn. “With NGCSU making the transition into the NCAA, we felt that it was only fair to allow Coach Burson and the Lady Saints the opportunity to enjoy the same success at the NCAA level. Coach Burson is an excellent basketball coach that has a burning desire for the game of basketball and to assist young ladies in reaching their goals both on and off the basketball court.”
“With North Georgia making the move to NCAA it only makes sense that I focus on just coaching my team,” said coach Burson. “With all of the exciting challenges that lie ahead, I look forward to devoting all of my time to the Lady Saints basketball program.”
As coach of the Lady Saints basketball team, Burson has guided the program to a 272-94 record in 11 years, four consecutive conference and tournament championships, and seven straight NAIA tournaments. This past season, she led North Georgia to a 26-8 overall record, 18-2 conference record, the Sweet 16 of the NAIA Tournament, and a final ranking of ninth in the country.
