LADY SAINTS FLY PAST LADY HAWKS 86-54

Dahlonega, Ga. - North Georgia College & State University put on an offensive display Monday night in Memorial Gymnasium as they defeated Shorter College 86-54 in Southern States Athletic Conference women's basketball action.

In the first half the Lady Hawks kept the game close with tight defense. The score was knotted at 17 a piece with less than ten minutes left after SC freshman guard Blue Buchanan (Machester, Tenn.) sunk a jumper. The Saints then went on a 23-10 run to finish out the half and give North Georgia the 40-27 lead going into the locker room. Seniors Brandi Owen (Cornelia, Ga.) and Katie Schleisman (Suwanee, Ga.) led the Lady Saints in the first with nine point a piece.

North Georgia poured on the offense in the second half and out-scored the Lady Hawks 46-27 in the half. The closet SC could get was 13 with 13:50 left to play until the Lady Saints went on a 9-0 run to all but seal the victory. North Georgia led by as much as 34 as they shot 15-28 (54%) from the field in the second half.

Five Lady Saints scored in double figures with junior guard Katie Williamson (Suwanee, Ga.) leading North Georgia with 19 points after shooting 5-8 from the field and 9-10 from the line. Owen pitched in 16 followed by Schleisman with 13. Freshman forward Rachael Jolley (Covington, Ga.) had 11 and junior forward Jeanine Dorminey (Tifton, Ga.) added 10.

For the Lady Hawks, senior forward Keri Sparks (Canton, Ga.) led SC with 13 points. Buchanan and senior forward Laketa Riddle (Albertville, Ala.) each had 10 in the effort.

Next up for the Lady Saints (10-6, 6-1 SSAC) is a trip to Southern Wesleyan University to take on the Lady Warriors at 6:00 p.m. this Thursday. The Lady Hawks (8-6, 2-3 SSAC) play again this Thursday as well at home against AUM at 6:00 p.m.
