#17 LADY SAINTS GIVE NGCSU HAPPY HOMECOMING OVER #22 LADY FLAMES 72-63

Dahlonega, Ga. - Coming back from a halftime deficit, #17 North Georgia College & State University rallied back to win 72-63 over Lee University in the first game of the 2005 Homecoming for NGCSU.

The Flames took the lead early in the first half and had a seven point lead five minutes into the game.   Freshman guard Jessica Still (Owensboro, Ky.) led Lee in the first half with eight points, shooting 100% from the field and from the line.   In the 11 th minute the Lady Saints tied the score 12-12 with an old fashion three-point play by freshman forward Rachael Jolley (Covington, Ga.).

After knotting the score, North Georgia went cold as the Flames turned up the heat and scored 10 straight unanswered points over the next three minutes.   Led by a pair three's and two free throws from Still, Lee broke out to a 22-12 lead with eight minutes to go in the half.

In the final minutes, the Lady Saints rallied back with two big shots from behind the arc by freshman guard Megan Huffman (Woodstock, Ga.) and cut the lead to one heading into halftime, with the score 30-29.

The lead changed hands six times in the first ten minutes of the second half until senior forward Brandi Owen (Cornelia, Ga.) knocked down a jumper to give North Georgia a 46-44 lead.   The Lady Flames kept the score close, thanks in part to senior forward Stacy Felchner (Scottsville, Ky.) who scored nine points in the second half.

The Lady Saints had a eight point lead with a minute and a half left in the game, but could get no closer than five as North Georgia held on for the nine point lead.
