LADY SAINTS WIN SSAC TOURNAMENT OPENER
ROME, Ga. – In the opening round of the Southern States Athletic Conference Tournament, the Emmanuel College Lady Lions gave the top seeded North Georgia College & State University Lady Saints all they could handle. When all was said and done, North Georgia came out on top 53-45, and advanced to Friday's semifinal game.
The Lady Saints were led by senior Katie Schleisman (Suwanee, Ga.) with 16 points. Senior Brandi Owen (Cornelia, Ga.) added 13 and junior Katie Williamson (Suwanee, Ga.) rounded out players in double figures, chipping in 12. Jeanine Dorminey (Tifton, Ga.) controlled the boards, pulling down 13 rebounds for the night.
For the game, North Georgia shot 28% from the field (16-58) and 31% (4-13) from behind the three-point line.
The Lady Saints will take on #4 Lee University at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Lee defeated Auburn University Montgomery by a score of 51-49 on Thursday to advances to Friday's semifinals.
