In the first half it looked as if North Georgia (3-1) would dominate the game as they broke out to a 10-2 lead five minutes in, but Claflin (4-2) tied the game 12-12 off a jumper from junior guard Jessica Richardson (Orangeburg, SC) at the 13:50 mark and did not give up the lead the rest of the half. With 4:08 left to play in the first, the Pantherettes broke out to 40-33 lead, but a key three pointer by junior guard Katie Williamson (Suwanee, Ga.) cut the Claflin lead to four. The Lady Saints got to within three points with less than one minute remaining in the half, but were unable to cut anymore into the Pantherettes 46-39 lead at the half.

North Georgia came out firing as they went on a 9-0 run to begin the second half and take a 48-46 lead. The Pantherettes kept within two points of the Lady Saints for nine minutes until freshman forward Rachael Jolley (Covington, Ga.) nailed a three pointer to give North Georgia a 62-59 lead. The Pantherettes Richardson came down the court and knocked down her own three pointer to knot the score at 62. The Lady Saints then went on a 6-0 run and never looked back as they wore down Claflin for the five minutes of the game.

Throughout the first half the Lady Saints struggled from the field as they shot 35% in the first half and 42% for the game. The Pantherettes shot well throughout the game as they were 50% in the first half and 45% in the second.
