#16 LADY SAINTS BATTLE PAST LADY SENATORS 65-47

Dahlonega, Ga. – For only the fifth time this season, #16 North Georgia College & State University scored under 70's points and won with a 65-47 win over conference rival Auburn University Montgomery.

From the beginning, the Lady Saints held the lead in the game thanks to excellent defense and good shooting. North Georgia held the Lady Senators to only 20% (5-for-25) from the field in the first half and 33% (19-for-58) for the game. AUM also struggled from behind the arc with only 1-of-12 three pointers hitting the net. In contrast, the Lady Saints shot 42% (5-for-12) free behind the line and 46% (11-for-24) in the second half.

The Lady Senators managed to tie the game in the second half after freshman guard Brittany Moore (Cartersville, Ga.) hit a three pointer to tie the game 12-12 with 6:40 left on the clock. North Georgia then went on a 13-2 run to close out the half and go into the water break with a 25-14 lead.

In the second half, North Georgia continued to pour on the offense as they went on a 16-7 run in the first seven minutes to jump out to a 21-point lead. The Lady Saints road a their double-digit lead for the remainder of the game for the 65-47 wins.

Freshman guard Megan Huffman (Woodstock, Ga.) led North Georgia for the third straight game with 18 points. Senior guard Katie Schleisman (Suwanee, Ga.) scored 14 points and sophomore forward Jenica Johnson (Lilburn, Ga.) had 12 points and seven rebounds.

Moore led three AUM players in double-digits with 14 points. Senior guard Jessica Weathers (Red Level, Ala.) and senior guard Monica Diamond (Lithonia, Ga.) scored 10 points each.

The Lady Senators, 13-9 overall and 6-7 in the conference, will play again this weekend as they travel to Rome to play Shorter College at 1:00 p.m. The Lady Saints, 18-7 overall and 14-2 in the SSAC, will take a week off before they too travel to Rome to play the Hawks.
