KATIE WILLIAMSON SELECTED SSAC WOMEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Dahlonega, Ga. – North Georgia College & State University guard Katie Williamson is this weeks Southern States Athletic Conference women's basketball “Player of the Week” for her performance on the court last week.
Williamson, a 5-10, sophomore from Suwanee, Ga., averaged 17.5 ppg, 5.0 rpg, 3.0 apg, 0.5 bpg, and 2.5 spg in two games in which the Lady Saints went 2-0 last week and sealed their fourth straight conference championship. She shot 22-for-24 from the free throw line last week and is currently second in the nation in free throw percentage at 89.7%. Williamson has led the Lady Saints in scoring in seven games this season and is averaging 13.7 ppg for North Georgia.
Williamson joins freshman guard Megan Huffman (Woodstock, Ga.) as recipients of the conference “Player of the Week” award this season for the Lady Saints. Huffman was selected for the weeks of January 10 and February 14.
North Georgia takes to the floor again on Thursday for the opening round of the SSAC Tournament hosted by Berry College. The first seeded Lady Saints will face the eighth seeded Emmanuel Lady Lions at 8:00 p.m.
