TRIO OF LADY SAINTS NAMED ALL-AMERICANS
Brandi Owen, Katie Williamson, and Megan Huffman
Selected to NAIA All-American Team

Jackson, Tenn. – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced today the 2005 Women's Basketball All-American Team. North Georgia College & State University senior Brandi Owen and junior Katie Williamson were selected to the second team along with freshman Megan Huffman who was selected as an Honorable Mention.

Owen, a 6-0 forward from Cornelia, Ga., led the ninth ranked Lady Saints to a 26-8 overall record and their fourth consecutive conference tournament championship. In her final year at North Georgia, Owen had her best season for the Lady Saints after being named to her first All-Conference Team and fourth consecutive All-Academic Team. She scored her 1000th career point as a Lady Saint this season while leading the team in scoring with 16.3 ppg and was second on the team with 7.4 rpg. Owen recorded three double-doubles this year in points and rebounds and averaged 17.6 ppg in the Lady Saints five postseason appearances.

Williamson, a 5-10 guard from Suwanee, Ga., is a first time selection to the All-American team. Yesterday, she received her second consecutive All-American All-Academic team honors. Williamson was also named to the All-Conference Team this season after averaging 13.2 ppg and leading the team in assists with 144. On January 8 she scored her 1000th point in her career and currently has scored 1257 points. She finished third in the nation in free throw percentage after going 168-for-189 and connecting on 88.9% of her attempts from the charity stripe. At one point this season she completed 30 straight free throws and went 14-for-14 from the line against Brevard College on November 6.

Huffman, a 5-10 freshman guard from Woodstock, Ga., was selected as an All-American Honorable Mention after being named Southern States Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year , All-Conference Team member, and SSAC Tournament MVP. She averaged 13.1 ppg in 30 games for the Lady Saints and led the team in scoring in eight games. Huffman was a two-time selection for conference Player of the Week and scored 27 points in North Georgia's win over Brewton-Parker College to win the conference tournament. Huffman averaged 14.4 ppg in the Lady Saints five postseason games.

National Player of the Year honors were shared this season with Union University senior center Stephanie Clark and Vanguard University senior guard Lisa Faulkner receiving the award. Clark led Union to a 35-5 overall record and the National Championship for 2005 and was named Tournament MVP. She averaged 17.2 ppg in the NAIA Tournament and led the tournament in rebounding. Faulkner led Vanguard to the quarterfinals of the NAIA Tournament and a 32-4 overall record. She set a new assist record in the tournament after dishing out 17 assists in one game.
