SAINTS TOP THE NORSE 7-4
Use two homeruns in comeback win

DAHLONEGA, Ga – North Georgia College & State University overcame an early deficit and used a pair of homeruns to top Northern Kentucky 7-4 here Saturday afternoon at the Ryan’s Classic.

Northern Kentucky got off to a quick start with a lead-off home run from Rose Broderick to take a 1-0 lead. Jenny Weis singled in the same inning to plate Cara Parker and the Norse had a 2-0 first inning lead. North Georgia got right back into it in the first inning when Leslee Smith kept her hot bat alive with a bomb to deep center that just made it over the wall for a three-run shot to plate Jessica Skeels, Whitney Propes, and give the Saints a 3-0 lead.

The Norse tied it up in the second with a Parker single up the middle to score Sydney Doyle for a 3-3 score. The next inning another RBI single, this time by Amanda Smith, gave the visiting team a 4-3 lead.

The next two innings were all North Georgia, as they scored a run in the fourth with a two-out single from Krista Bess to tie the game 4-4, and in the fifth the Saints took the lead for good as Skeels got the go-ahead RBI to plate Propes, and then Brittany broke the game open with a homer to right-center to extend the lead to 7-4.
