Saints play two tomorrow at Ryan’s Classic
DAHLONEGA, Ga. – North Georgia College & State University used fifteen hits and a strong performance from Andrea Moss on the mound to take game two of the Ryan’s Classic 14-2 over King College here Friday afternoon.
North Georgia put a quick four spot on the board in the top of the opening inning on four hits, including three straight hits to open the game. Jessica Skeels doubled to the wall in left to plate the first two runs of the game, and Leslee Smith picked up an RBI two batters later with an infield single, and eventually came home to score on a wild pitch for the fourth run of the inning.
The Tornado came right back in the bottom of the first with two runs on a pair of hits. Katie Hubbard singled home the first run of the inning, and Whitney Tweed crossed home for the second run on a wild pitch to cut the Saints’ lead in half at 4-2.
The Saints added a run to their lead in the second with an error that allowed Brittany Cobb to reach and Whitney Propes to race home from second to make it a 5-2 lead.
North Georgia continued to pour it on in the third with five runs, all coming with two out and no one on. Krista Goodlet and Brooke Kesler both put hits together for Page Raynor who drove in both runners with a double to deep left. After Propes reached base, Skeels pounded out her second double of the day to drive in her third and fourth RBI of the game and make it a 10-2 advantage.
The fourth inning was much of the same, as the Saints added three more runs on three hits and three key throwing errors by the Tornado infield to plate Shubert, Natasha Willemse, and Goodlet for a 13-2 lead. Megan Grimm added an infield RBI single in the fifth and the Saints ran away with a 14-2 lead.
Moss picks up her 15 win of the season as went four innings and allowed three hits and two runs.
The Saints (25-11) will take the diamond again tomorrow at 4:00 pm against North Kentucky University in the Ryan’s Classic.
