NORTH GEORGIA SWEEPS WEST GEORGIA ON THE ROAD
Senior Andrea Moss improves to 11-3 with victories in both games

CARROLLTON, Ga. – North Georgia College & State University used three homeruns and the pitching of senior Andrea Moss to sweep a doubleheader from West Georgia 6-1 and 5-4 in non-conference softball action here Tuesday afternoon.

Moss (11-3) picked up the victory in game one, facing just six batters over the minimum in seven innings. She pitched a complete game, striking out six and facing just 27 batters.

Junior outfielder Candace Shubert led the Saints at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a three-run triple (her first of the season) to highlight the first game. Freshman Jessica Skeels went 2-for-3 with two runs batted in and her team-leading seventh homerun of the season. Junior third baseman Krista Bess went 2-for-3 with a run scored in the game one victory.

In game two, North Georgia scored two runs in the top of the sixth inning to take the lead and held on for the victory.

Trailing 4-3, Skeels stepped to the plate and hit a double down the leftfield line that drew chalk and gave the Saints a 5-4 lead.

Moss picked up the victory with 3 1/3 innings of relief of starter Nicole Adkison, who scattered six hits over 3 2/3 innings. Junior outfielder Brittany Cobb continued her power outburst as she connected on her team-leading (shared with Skeels) seventh homerun of the season (all in the last 12 days). Freshman Natasha Willemse hit her first collegiate homerun, a ball that one-hopped the 285-foot sign.

North Georgia (19-10, 4-0 PBC) returns to Peach Belt Conference play this weekend, traveling to Americus on Friday to face Georgia Southwestern State University in a doubleheader beginning at 6 pm.
