SAINTS COMPLETE SWEEP ON FIRST DAY OF TOURNAMENT
Moss and Propes lead Saints to victories on the mound
Jackson, MS - North Georgia College & State University swept a pair of games from Ouachita Baptist University on the first day of the University of West Alabama Invitational here Saturday afternoon.
In the day's first game, Andrea Moss (1-0) pitched five innings of shutout softball in a 9-0 Saints' victory in six innings. She scattered three hits, walked one batter and struck out seven in the victory.
A pair of freshmen led the Saints at the plate, with Laura Voyles going 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and a run batted in. Fellow freshman Courtney McGuire went 3-for-4 with a double and a pair of RBI.
In game two, the Saints rode the arm of Whitney Propes (1-0) and the bat of Voyles to a 6-0 victory. Voyles was 2-for-4 with a two-run homerun, double and three runs batted in.
North Georgia (2-0) takes on Southern Arkansas Sunday afternoon at 11:00 am and 1:00 pm on the final day of the tournament.
