AUGUSTA, Ga. - North Georgia College & State University junior outfielder Brittany Cobb was named the Peach Belt Conference Player of the Week, announced by the Peach Belt office this afternoon.
The junior outfielder feasted on opposing pitching this past weekend at The Fun In The Sun Tournament in Bradenton, Florida by conencting for six homeruns during the seven game tournament. Ironically, the junior from Oxford, had not connected for a collegiate homerun until she hit her first against Saginaw Valley in the first game of the tournament. She would go on to add five more in the tournament, including a walk-off grand slam to upset 25th-ranked Carson-Newman 12-2 on Saturday. For the week, Cobb hit .363 and slugged 1.182 over seven games. She collected eight hits in 22 at-bats, with 10 runs scored and 13 runs batted in. She walked three times and was intentionally walked once. She also stole two bases on the weekend. The Saints return to action this afternoon against Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, beginning at 4 pm. |
