FOUR PLAYERS NAMED PEACH BELT ALL-CONFERENCE
Andrea Moss, Whitney Propes, Page Raynor and Leslee Smith all awarded by conference
AUGUSTA, Ga. - North Georgia College & State University received four awards at the annual Peach Belt Conference softball banquet here Friday night, as four players were honored for their success on the field of play by being named to the 2007 Peach Belt All-Conference Softball Team, announced by the Peach Belt Conference office.
Senior pitcher Andrea Moss recorded a 23-10 record with a 1.99 earned run average on the season, helping her to earn All-Conference honors in her first season at North Georgia. A transfer from Kennesaw, Moss appeared in 41 games with 31 starts and 25 complete games. She recorded two shutouts and two saves. During the season, Moss pitched a team-high 210 2/3 innings, walking just 51 batters and striking out 190.
Sophomore outfielder Whitney Propes hit a team-high .428 on the season, helping her to earn All-Conference honors. The first-year Saint played in 50 games, scored 51 runs and collected a team-high 65 hits. She also recorded 70 total bases, a .446 on-base percentage, a team-high 11 sacrifice hits and a team-high 16 stolen bases during the season.
Sophomore first baseman Page Raynor collected a team-high 16 doubles on the season, helping her to earn All-Conference honors. Raynor hit .376 (second only to Propes), played in 47 games and collected 50 hits. She also collected three triples, three homeruns and 23 runs batted in, all while slugging .609 on the season.
Freshman shortstop Leslee Smith, a part-time starter until March 9 when she became the full-time shortstop, hit .352 in 53 games for the Saints this season, helping her to earn All-Conference honors. She recorded 50 hits, 31 runs, nine doubles and three homeruns. She also posted team-highs in homeruns with 10, runs batted in with 52, and slugging percentage at .669. She also stole five bases en route to earning the honor.
The four players are the most of any sport to be named at one time at North Georgia since joining the Peach Belt Conference and NCAA Division II last season. It also brings the number of players chosen for All-Conference honors in the athletic department this season to 13 this season.
