#4 NIGHT HAWKS BREEZE PAST #10 SAINTS

Dahlonega, Ga. – Capitalizing off of four Saints errors, fourth ranked Thomas University took care of 10th ranked North Georgia College & State University Sunday afternoon in a non-conference double header.

Game 1

A three run homer in the first inning by sophomore shortstop Yuruby Alicart (Maracay, Venezuela) gave the Night Hawks (26-4) a 3-0 lead in the first inning as TU routed the Saints (23-12) 9-1 in the first game.

The Night Hawks picked up a single run in the third and fifth inning to stretch their lead to 5-0. North Georgia scored its single run in the fifth inning off of an RBI single from freshman center fielder Brittney Cobb (Oxford, Ga.). TU responded in the top half of the sixth with four runs, capped off by a two RBI single from freshman right fielder Sarah Tutchener (Melbourne, Australia).

Senior starting pitcher Cathy Andrijaszyn (Richmond, British Columbia) got the win after pitching six innings and allowing only one earned run off of five hits. Game 2

Alicart once again got the Night Hawk offense started in the first inning with a one out double to center fielder to score sophomore left fielder Stacey Ward (Melbourne, Australia). TU picked up two more runs in the third inning after junior center fielder Maribel Riera (Chickiriviche, Venezuela) shot a homer over the left field wall to make the score 3-0.
