#11 SAINTS SPLIT WITH #1 NIGHT HAWKS IN SOFTBALL
Thomasville, Ga. – After losing the first game 6-5 off of a walk-off home run, #11 North Georgia College & State University pounded the softball to defeat number one Thomas University in the second game 9-2.
Game 1
The Saints (1-1) scored two runs in the first inning off of three hits and one Night Hawk (7-1) error. After adding one more in the third inning off of an RBI double from freshman third baseman Brittany Barnes (Lawrenceville, Ga.), North Georgia had a 3-0 lead.
TC cut the lead to one in the bottom of the third inning after scoring two runs, but the Saints took a two run lead in the fourth after freshman center fielder Brittney Cobb (Oxford, Ga.) doubled in senior catcher Katie Thrasher (Arnoldsville, Ga.).
In the sixth inning, TC got to Saints senior starting pitcher Beth Willis (Williamson, Ga.) and put three runs on the board to go up 5-4. In the top of the seventh, junior short stop Lynsey Thompson (Dacula, Ga.) led off with a double and later scored off of a sacrifice fly from Barnes to tie the score at five all. In the bottom of the seventh though, a lead off home run ended the game and gave the Night Hawks the win.

Game 2
Game two saw TC jump out to a 2-1 lead after the third inning, but North Georgia scored three runs in the fifth inning off of a three run Thompson homer. The Saints put four more runs on the board in the sixth inning off of two this and three Night Hawk errors. A home run by sophomore designated player Bronwyn Miller (Woodstock, Ga.) in the seventh capped off the scoring for North Georgia.
Sophomore starter Danielle Rainey (Lawrenceville, Ga.) picked up her first win of the season after pitching seven strong innings. She allowed only two earned runs while scattering six hits and striking out three batters.
The Saints continue their road trip as they travel to Edward Waters College in Jacksonville, Fla. for a game at 2:00 p.m. today.
