LEE SURVIVES 7-6 IN EIGHT INNINGS OVER SAINTS
Orange Beach, Ala. - Kelly Golden's solo homerun with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning completed a six-run comeback by Lee University against North Georgia in the NAIA Region XIII Championships.
North Georgia scored the first six runs of the game before the furious comeback by the Lady Flames to send the game to extra innings. Lee completed the comeback with a bases loaded walk-off RBI single by Heidi Hamilton in the bottom of the eighth inning to eliminate North Georgia for the tournament.
The Saints (41-15) scored two runs in the first and third innings and single runs in the third and fourth innings. Lee (41-13) committed five errors over the first four innings leading to two unearned runs. The Lady Flames got on the board with a single run in the fourth on a throwing error and then JaAndrea Hinton closed the gap to a single run with one swing of the bat. The sophomore third baseman blasted a grand slam over the left-centerfield wall for her ninth homerun of the season.
